Madeira has become the No. 1 sightseeing destination for Czech tourists traveling this autumn.

The main foreign source markets for arrivals and overnight stays were Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, the Czech Republic, and the United States. A total of 42,782 Czech tourists visited Madeira in 2024 (source: Visit Portugal).
Prague Airport also recorded a 16% increase in the number of passengers traveling to Madeira in 2024, with an estimated 95,200 passengers traveling in both directions this year and an increase of 22%.
As the Madeira archipelago is an autonomous region of Portugal and part of the EU, Czech citizens can enter and stay in Madeira without restriction. A valid travel document or ID card is sufficient for entry. Travel to Madeira is also facilitated by the presence of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in the capital, Funchal.
